After living in Long Island, New York for most of my 30 years, I feel more than open and ready to relocate. Living here feels akin to being in a sort of vortex. It's easy to get stuck.

And as many memories as I have here and friends that I love, I have been waiting to leave. I want a better quality life for my family and I. Saying this feels like a love letter to all the women before me that lived in survival mode, unable to enjoy their loved ones.

I will live a fuller, more joy filled life for all of us. That's a promise and one I have every intention to fulfill.

This past year, since giving birth to my daughter in our tiny bathroom, I have been home with her. I have always known I wanted to be at home with my kids. When I turned 25 five years ago, I prayed for my job, which affords me to do this. And I'm grateful. But I've also been spread thin.

I do my best to take care of my daughter, take care of myself, tidy up where and when I can, stay on top of operations during my shifts, breastfeed (it needs its own mention), maintain relationships, and think groceries, meals, and the high costs of living, or rather getting by.

This is not the best we can do.

Promises made by politicians feel like promises made by politicians.

So I believe it's worthwhile looking elsewhere or gauging at least.

This life we know in New York is not the only one that exists for us. There is slower, softer, more, and if you want this also, I hope you go after it.

Best and Warm Regards,

Souvany J. P.
